Bloom House is a 501c3 organization with an aim to be an inclusive refuge for youth in need. The goal of Bloom House is to create a culture of acceptance for vulnerable, at risk, and homeless youth. Bloom House believes in using a common sense approach and comprehensive support services to ensure a stable and empowered future for young people who need it most.

Emporia High School’s GSA is a club for gender and sexuality awareness.

Student Wellness Center Counseling Services is providing counseling for ESU Students via Zoom for Healthcare. Please call 620-341-5222 to schedule a time to talk with a counselor. The Counseling Center resource page also houses our group workshops and hosts groups for Biofeedback, Art Therapy, LGBTQ+ support, and Connection including self-help, alcohol and drug abuse prevention, and information on healthy relationship and interpersonal violence education. All ESU students have been enrolled in the Counseling Center Resource course in Canvas. ESU Students can navigate to the Counseling Center Resource tile on your dashboard in Canvas to access the course. The course also connects you to apps to manage stress, ideas for positive coping skills during times of uncertainty, and student resources available during the Covid-19 outbreak.

People Respecting Individuality and Diversity in Education (P.R.I.D.E.) is the recognized student organization for Allies, Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning persons on campus. We accept and respect everybody, regardless of sex, race, religion, orientation, gender, nationality, etc. At its core, PRIDE functions as a gay-straight alliance! Providing a place for people to come together and embrace the differences that make up each and every one of us. PRIDE is a social network, an organization, and an educational service, that has interest in the nature of our country towards those of different gender identities, and sexual orientations. The Student Wellness Health Services provides services to all enrolled ESU Students. Patients visits are with a nurse practitioner or physician or Registered Dietitian and include treatment of acute and chronic illness, management of medical health issues, physicals, laboratory tests, male and female sexual health exams and treatments, TB skin tests, immunizations, cryotherapy, blood pressure checks, HIV testing and counseling, STI testing, and provision of sharps containers for students with diabetes or other conditions requiring self-injection of medications.

Nyk Robertson is available for trainings across a variety of subjects pertaining to LGBTQ+ communities including BIPOC, Intimate Violence, Health and Wellness inclusive practices, religious LGBTQ+ students, international students, and more.

The Healthy Relationship & Interpersonal Violence Education (THRIVE) program is committed to creating and promoting a safe environment for the Emporia State University community through educational initiatives and outreach. The Emporia State LGBTQ+ Alumni Facebook Group is for LGBTQ+ ESU alumni. Please join if you are an Emporia State University alumnus (student, faculty, staff, friend of university) and are LGBTQ+ or our allies. This alumni group is to support the LGBTQ+ community, particularly on campus. We welcome people to share about their lives and ways we can engage meaningfully to support LGBTQ+ progress at our alma matter. Everyone (including our allies) are welcome to be part of the alumni group.

SOS's mission is to empower and advocate for those affected by sexual and domestic violence, child abuse and neglect. SOS serves five Kansas counties: Chase, Coffey, Lyon, Morris & Osage.

TheFlint Hills Community Health Center serves as a medical home for Chase, Greenwood, Lyon, Osage, and Woodson counties in Kansas. A variety of services are available including dental, medical and behavioral/counseling.

Equality Kansas, formerly the Kansas Equality Coalition, was established in October 2005. Originally formed by the merger of independent LGBT advocacy groups in Topeka, Manhattan, and Wichita, Equality Kansas is a chapter-based grassroots organization.

The Kansas City Anti-Violence Project (KCAVP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation committed to providing domestic violence, sexual assault, and hate crimes advocacy and education to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community.

The Kansas City Center for Inclusion, Inc. (KCCI) is Kansas City’s LGBTQIA+ resource and community center. Founded in 2017, KCCI is proud to focus on the future of our family here in the greater Kansas City area. Kansas City’s LGBTQIA+ community has a rich history, and we are proud to continue to be a part of this great heritage.

The GLSEN Greater Kansas City Chapter supports students and educators locally, organizes around LGBTQ-affirming public policy, plans teacher trainings, and hosts events for students, educators, parents, and allies.

Beacon for Hope is a Suicide Prevention 501 (c)(3) non-profit dedicated to linking our community together through education, resources, support, and hope for those who have been affected by suicide. 

Transformations is committed to serving transgender, nonbinary, gender-expansive, and gender nonconforming (TGNC) young people and explicitly centering transgender young women of color, and trans and nonbinary young people in survival mode and without traditional systems of support, in their experiences, resiliency, leadership and wisdom. The organization expanded their outreach to include a three-state region, specifically focusing on Missouri, Kansas, and Ozark Mountain region in Northern Arkansas.

Centerlink was founded with the mission to build sustainable LGBTQ community centers, this organization now has over 200 locations in 46 states and five countries. Aside from strengthening local LGBTQ communities, the organization also provides networking, technical assistance and training, and capacity building services.

GLADD, with a national focus on leading conversations about equality for the LGBTQ community and informing the media narrative, works with news and entertainment media of all formats and communications and digital strategy outlets to ensure the public is provided with powerful stories about the LGBTQ community that advocates for greater equality.

GLSEN’s mission is simple: to ensure every member of school communities feel respected, regardless of their sexual orientation. This is accomplished through educating teachers, students and the public about the common pressures faced by LGBTQ students and working to remove barriers to success.

GE focuses on equipping the LGBTQ community and their allies to fight against inequalities and to push for progressive change. Whether organizing direct action efforts, hosting local community meetings, training members in tactics of direct action or providing professional consulting, the organization is committed to continuously fighting for equality.

HRC is the largest organization fighting for the civil rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans. The organization currently has over 1.5 million members, all focused on making true equality for all possible. The organization has a number of research publications outlining equality indexes on areas such as healthcare, employers, states and corporations.

By erasing hate and building compassionate and accepting communities, the Matthew Shepard Foundation hopes to empower LGBTQ individuals to challenge and address discriminatory behavior in their schools, neighborhoods and homes.

Identifying as America’s premier social justice advocacy organization for transgender individuals, NCTE works at the federal, state and local levels to leverage political capital and change laws encouraging discriminatory behavior. The organization has a particularly helpful “Know Your Rights” section of their website with information on housing, healthcare, employment, and more.

Since 1973, NGLTF has focused on building the political capital of the LGBTQ community through activist training, advancing pro-LGBT legislation and raising the profile of LGBTQ interests and causes. The organization is also an excellent resource for learning about the beliefs and platforms of those running for public office in regards to LGBTQ interests.

Through support, education and advocacy efforts, PFLAG seeks to unite the LGBTQ community with friends, families and allies. By doing so, the organization hopes to further equality efforts and lessen discriminatory practices. Currently, there are more than 350 chapters and over 200,000 members.

TYFA is focused on supporting children and families to create support systems offering encouragement and acceptance regardless of sexual orientation. Main areas of work include educating the public about discrimination, working to eliminate oppression and violence, and forming alliances to ensure support services are in place for LGBTQ individuals.

The organization has a number of outreach initiatives and resources to accomplish this mission.

The Trevor Project was founded in 1998 by the creators of the Academy Award®-winning short film TREVOR, The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) young people under 25.

Learning for Justice seeks to uphold the mission of the Southern Poverty Law Center: to be a catalyst for racial justice in the South and beyond, working in partnership with communities to dismantle white supremacy, strengthen intersectional movements and advance the human rights of all people.
