First Generation Advisory Council
Meet the members of the Advisory Council
Taylor Black - President
I’m a junior accounting student with a minor in Information Systems. Every First-Generation student has a unique life story. As an RSO, we aim to provide a space to share those stories and get to know each other while having fun and getting informed about all things college-related!
Kaylin Rehder - Vice President
I'm a senior Secondary Education student with majors in English and Psychology. Being a First Gen student means forging my own path, even when it seems daunting or confusing. I take great pride and honor in being able to take the torch from my parents across the finish line.
Erik Sanchez - Council Member
Hello, I am a graduate student studying Clinical psychology. Being a first-generation college student to me means that I am working on using the opportunity that I am given from my parents’ sacrifices to achieve my goals.
Layna Adams - Council Member
I’m a second-year clinical psychology graduate student. To me being first gen means more than being the first to graduate college with a degree, it means learning how to be a leader, learning how to be okay with being uncomfortable, challenging yourself every day to build a network of support that helps you succeed, and most importantly it means using those skills to help me be able to help those that helped get me where I am today.
