Dr. Megan N. Long joined the Department of Counselor Education in 2024. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor - Supervisor (LPC-S) in Louisiana, Registered Play Therapist - Supervisor, National Certified Counselor, and Certified AutPlay Therapy Provider. She integrates years of clinical practice in vocational rehabilitation, adult inpatient behavioral health, and play therapy private practice into her work as a counselor educator. She is passionate about the therapeutic powers of play, and enjoys sharing the beauty of play therapy with everyone she meets.

Dr. Long earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of New Orleans in 2013, a master's in health sciences in Clinical Rehabilitation & Counseling from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in 2016, and a doctorate in Counselor Education & Supervision from the University of Holy Cross in 2024. She has been recognized as the recipient of several awards, including the LSU Health Clinical Rehabilitation & Counseling Departmental Research Award, the LSU Health School of Allied Health Professions Chancellor's Award, and the University of Holy Cross Larry Stokes Outstanding Quantitative Dissertation in Counseling Award. 

Dr. Long's current research interests center around play therapy, legal and ethical issues in counseling, and effective practices in counselor supervision.
