The program prepares professional counselors who qualify for membership in the nation’s two primary professional mental health counseling associations:

• American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA)
• American Counseling Association (ACA)

Employment Information

The Clinical Counseling profession continues to expand. Starting salaries depend on the type of practice and geographical area.

The federal O*NET Online source provides these statistics for art therapists:

• Media wages (2011): $39,190 annual
• Projected growth (2012-2020): Average (29% or higher)

Licenses & Certifications

Students of the Clinical Counseling program at ESU will have the opportunity to complete the necessary coursework to apply for several licenses and certifications including, but not limited to the following:

• Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) & Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)
  
• National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) & Nationally Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (NCMHC)
  
• Commission on Rehabilitation Counseling Certificate (CRC)
  
• Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC) & Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor (LCAC)
