Scholarships are available to HPER students
Emporia State University is known for its lower-than-average debt load upon graduation. A key to reducing the cost of earning a degree is scholarships. Total Financial Aid + Stackable Scholarships shall not exceed the total cost of attendance.
Health, Physical Education + Recreation Enhancement
This multi-donor fund may be used for any purpose, advancing the academic mission of the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department, including scholarships.
Joella H. Mehrhof HPER Scholarship
The purpose of this scholarship is to provide assistance to students majoring in Physical Education (undergraduate) or HPER (graduate), and who maintain a minimum GPA of 3.25. Please be sure to review your application and be sure to complete all areas; incomplete applications will not be considered.
Judith K. Sherrer Memorial Scholarship
Established in 2010 by Gary Sherrer, and receiving contributions from numerous donors in memory of his wife, Judy, this scholarship is for female student-athletes majoring in health, physical education or recreation.
Marjorie Stone Scholarship
This scholarship is for students majoring in Physical Education with first preference given to Kansas residents and second preference given to any student residing in a neighboring state.
Michael R. Jones Scholarship
Established in 2010 by Pamela Jones in memory of her late husband, Michael Jones, this scholarship is for students with a minimum 3.5 GPA majoring in Chemistry, Biology or Health and Physical Education.
Mike Shane Memorial Scholarship Fund - HPER
This fund provides scholarships for students majoring in Health, Physical Education & Recreation with special consideration given to students involved in campus activities.
Dr. Nancy L. Curry Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to students in their junior year who are pursuing a degree in Education - specifically teaching Physical or Health Education - with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Stanbrough Family Scholarship
The purpose of this Fund is to provide scholarships for undergraduate students with preference for students minoring in coaching education, who are graduates from a Kansas high school and are US citizens. Please be sure to review your application and be sure to complete all areas; incomplete applications will not be considered.
UNBOUND Gravel Academic Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to eligible students at Emporia State University. It is anticipated that three individual scholarships of approximately $500 per academic year will be awarded. To be considered, the applicant must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.
Zach Kindler Coaching Education Fund
This scholarship provides assistance to students who meet these criteria: minoring in coaching education; GPA of 2.5 or above; graduate of a Kansas high school; and are a current resident of the U.S.
Emporia State Presidential Scholarship Program
To obtain the ESU Presidential Scholarship, a freshman student must be a first-time undergraduate ESU student with at least a 21 or higher ACT (or equivalent SAT score) or a 3.0 or above unweighted GPA. To obtain the ESU Presidential Scholarship as a transfer, a student must be a new ESU transfer student at at least a 3.0 GPA on 24 or more transferrable hours.
