Our department offers four undergraduate major areas of study, four undergraduate minors, and an online health education licensure. A minor (non-teaching) consists of a minimum of 15 hours.

Coaching
Minor
Coaching a sport is one of the best ways to positively influence the lives of others. HPER’s Coaching minor is one of only 10 higher-education programs in the country to be nationally accredited. It is the most active and largest coaching program in Kansas.
Health
Minor
This is a non-teaching minor that can help prepare you for a career in public health, commercial and private agencies, and with county, state, and federal agencies.
Health & Human Performance
Bachelor of Science
This degree prepares you for positions in corporate health, strength & conditioning, personal training, public administration and related areas. Graduates can assume leadership roles in designing, implementing, and evaluating health promotion campaigns. Career options also exist in corporate, clinical/medical, not-for-profit organizations, commercial/private settings and academic institutions. This is also a pre-professional preparation field for physical therapy, occupational therapy, and chiropractic care.
Health + Physical Education
Bachelor of Science in Education
Health education teachers are instrumental in the well-being and healthy development of today’s youth. This program will prepare you to teach Health + Physical Education in schools from kindergarten all the way through high school.
Health Education
Licensure
Our online health education licensure program is designed for those who have current teaching license/certifications in other teaching fields and want to add health education. Every state has requirements on how to add health education to a teaching license and our graduate health education courses are designed to meet these requirements.
Pre-Athletic Training
Bachelor of Science
Students in the Pre-Professional Athletic Training track of the Health & Human Performance program will learn valuable hands-on skills and patient care to better prepare them for the professional competencies required as an athletic training student in ESU's MSAT Program.
Sport Leadership & Recreation
Bachelor of Science
The Bachelor of Science in Sport Leadership & Recreation is designed to prepare you for a leadership role in sport and recreation industries. The SLR program has courses focused on sport management, event and program design, revenue management, business law, marketing, and sport psychology. With unique practicum and internship experiences, SLR graduates are uniquely qualified for a wide range of careers in the profession.
