First Time Undergraduate Students
Transfer Students

Non-Traditional Students

TradPlus

You are considered a non-traditional student, or TradPlus, for admissions purposes if you did not attend a college or university the first semester after high school.

If you are under the age of 21, you must meet the following requirements to be admitted to Emporia State:

  • Graduate from an accredited high school, AND
  • Achieve a cumulative high school unweighted GPA of 2.25 or higher, OR
  • Earn an ACT composite score of 21 or higher, OR
  • Earn a new SAT composite score of 1060 or higher.

If you are over the age of 21, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a Kansas resident age 21 or older with fewer than 24 transferrable credit hours, AND
  • Graduate from an accredited high school, OR
  • Graduate from a non-accredited private secondary school, OR
  • Earn an overall score of 680 points and a minimum score of 150 points on each subset of the GED (taken after Jan. 2014), OR
  • Earn an overall score of 75 points with a minimum score of 8 points on each subset of the HiSET (taken after Jan. 2014).

Readmission Process

If you are returning to Emporia State University after being absent for one or more semester, and were in good academic standing at the time of last attendance, you will be readmitted after taking the following steps:

Once you are admitted, you will receive access to your previous Hornet Login and @g.emporia.edu student email account. You will receive more information in this account about enrolling for the next semester.

Second Bachelor’s Degree Students

New to ESU

If you have completed an undergraduate degree at another institution, complete the following steps to apply to Emporia State University as a second bachelor’s degree student:

  • Fill out the application.
  • Have official transcripts sent to ESU from the institution(s) where you earned your bachelor's degree, as well transcripts for as any post-baccalaureate work.

Returning ESU Students

If you have completed an undergraduate degree at Emporia State University, fill out the Second Bachelor Application.

Non-Degree Seeking Students

If you wish to take nine credit hours or fewer from Emporia State University and do not have a bachelor’s degree or higher, you will apply to ESU as a non-degree seeking student.

There are no requirements for admission as a non-degree seeking student. Apply now to get started.
