RECOGNIZED STUDENT ORGANIZATION (RSO) RESOURCES

ASG offers resources and incentives for being a Recognized Student Organization. From funding to your own webpage on Hornet Central, ASG is here to support your RSO! Find out about starting an RSO or receiving funding and resources by exploring Hornet Central!

ALL THINGS RSO

All Things RSO is a program held once a semester that representatives of RSOs (Registered Student Organizations) are required to attend. The session provides information on everything RSOs need to know to run a successful RSO, from allocations to Hornet Central.

DIP INTO DIVERSITY

Dip into Diversity is another program held once a semester that representatives of RSOs (Registered Student Organizations) are required to attend. This session provides RSOs with the tools necessary to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization. Strive for progress, take responsibility for their own learning, growing and mistakes that will inevitably occur and to develop a sense of empathy as leaders.

EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY FUND (EOF)

The Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) was created by the Board of Regents in 1989 to provide funding for student financial aid and community/campus service programs during each academic year. The EOF committee receives proposals, conducts hearings, and prepares a budget for expenditures from the fund. The value of the grant varies based on the area of request. Contact ASG President at asgpres@emporia.edu for more information.

JAMES HIRSCH SCHOLARSHIP

Dr. Hirsch was the former Vice President of Student Affairs and advisor to the Associated Student Government. Dr. Hirsh’s commitment to the furtherance of all students at Emporia State University was genuine and unwavering. The Dr. James Hirsh Student Involvement Scholarship honors the memory of Dr. Hirsh and is awarded to one student annually who has made a commitment to the students of Emporia State University; one who mirrors the dedication of Dr. Hirsh, through consistent support of campus organizations as well as the interest of all students. Applications may be found in the Scholarship Portal.

LOVE YOUR CAMPUS MINI GRANTS

One of the main goals of ASG is to provide notable benefit to the students at Emporia State University. To this end, ASG offers grants to Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs) that will support programs or projects that implement strategies which help celebrate diversity, create equity, and foster inclusion. The value of the grant varies based on the area of request. Contact ASG Business Affairs Director at asgtreas@emporia.edu for more information.

UNITED DAY OF CARING

United Day of Caring is an event organized by ASG and Community Hornets that allows students to experience volunteering and networking with various businesses and organizations around Lyon County. This is a great one-day event to gain service hours and meet new people!

FREE MENSTRUAL PRODUCT INITIATIVE

ASG believes access to safe hygienic menstrual products is a right, not a privilege. Therefore, ASG provides free menstrual products in most campus restrooms. Interested in adding services in your building? Email asgdiversity@emporia.edu for more information.

BREAKING BARRIERS CONFERENCE

Launched in 2022, ASG hosts the Breaking Barriers Conference each year. A women in leadership conference, this event brings together women who have broken barriers by becoming leaders in a world where men are deemed more fit to lead. Contact ASG President at asgpres@emporia.edu for additional information.

STUDENT SUCCESS GUIDE

The Student Success Guide is a guide created by ASG to support our freshman and transfer students as they transition into college. The guide outlines ten ways to ensure success while at ESU. It also provides tips and resources to support students as they progress through their college journey. Professors can add the success guide in their course syllabus or on their Canvas courses.
