The Emporia State University Art Program will host guest artist Shaun Roberts as part of the Art Forum series. The Art Forum presentation is scheduled for Friday, March 1 from 4 to 5 p.m. on the third floor of the Lyon County History Center, located at 711 Commercial St. The event is free and open to the public.
Roberts, a painting professor at Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas, will present his personal art practice including an exhibition of large-scale oil paintings called “Parables of Mayhem.” A closing reception for Roberts will follow from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Eppink and Gilson Art Galleries located in King Hall on the ESU campus.
The Art Forum serves as an event and course designed to expose students to the work of active professional artists allowing them to gain an understanding of their influences, thinking processes and working methods.
The event is part of the Emporia First Friday Art Walk during which 10 to 20 downtown Emporia businesses serve as venues to host local artists. The Emporia First Friday Art Walk takes place on the first Friday of every month from 5 to 8 p.m.
