Students Place at State FBLA Competition

Eleven students pose with their certificates from a state competition.

Each of the 11 Emporia State students who attended the Future Business Leaders of America — Collegiate State Leadership Conference earned top placements in competition. They all are eligible for national competition this month in Atlanta. In addition, four were honored as outstanding chapter members in the Who’s Who of FBLA.

The students from Emporia State University and their achievements are as follows:

  • Fabiana Camacho: First, Business Decision Making
  • Ashley Cookson: Second, Management Concepts; Third, Macroeconomics; Third, Organizational Behavior & Leadership
  • Sophia Dawson: First, Business Law; Second, Human Resource Management
  • Joel Dieker: First, Administrative Support Technology; First, Economic Analysis & Decision Making (T); First, Global Analysis & Decision Making
  • Rebecca Froebe: Second, Marketing Concepts; Third Entrepreneurship Concepts
  • Brice Helton: First, Economic Analysis & Decision Making (T); Second, Accounting Case Competition (T); Second, Job Interview; Second, Macroeconomics; Third, Sports Management & Marketing
  • Mallory Kueser: First, Desktop Publishing; First, Economic Analysis & Decision Making (T); Second, Accounting Case Competition (T); Third, Project Management
  • Lexi Morgan: First, Small Business Management Plan
  • Linnea Mowry: First, Organizational Behavior & Leadership; First, Project Management; First, Retail Management; Second, Entrepreneurship Concepts; Second, Sports Management & Marketing
  • Hailey Waltner: Second, Hospitality Management Case Competition; Second, Marketing Analysis & Decision Making
  • Christian Zorn: Second, Website Design; Third, Administrative Support Technology; Third, Help Desk; Third, Networking Concepts

Brice Helton, Ashley Cookson, Linnea Mowry, and Sophia Dawson were all chosen as outstanding members of the Emporia State chapter of FBLA.

“We had some really tough competition this year, as the PSU team was double our size in participants, yet we competed well and came away with some great experience and learned a lot,” says Leticia Rust, ESU Advisor. “I am always proud of their poise, performance, professionalism, and with these experiences, they will be successful after graduation.”

Many of these students are seniors this year and Nationals will be their last competition in FBLA.

Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) builds on communication, leadership, networking, entrepreneurial, and business skills for the future. All majors are welcome to join FBLA. As a member of Emporia State’s FBLA, students can compete in over 50 events at the state and national level, help in various community service events, gain leadership skills and experience, apply classroom learning to a real-world setting, promote business to the community, and be trained to be the next line of leaders in any profession.
