Three separate events at Emporia State University allow the campus and Emporia communities to experience and learn about international cultures.
Lanakila’s Polynesian Show
Experience a celebration of Polynesian culture, music, dance, costumes and stories at this exciting luau! From Japan, Korea, Mexico, Germany, England, and beyond they have traveled to over 100 countries to showcase the exotic songs and dances of the South Pacific.
The performance begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17 in Albert Taylor Hall in ESU’s Plumb Hall. It is a family-friendly show that is free to the public.
International Tea Tasting
Immediately before the Lanakila’s Polynesian show, ESU’s Office of International Education will host an international tea tasting. The event starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17 in the Rotunda of Plumb Hall, right outside the doors to Albert Taylor Hall.
ESU international students will share their countries’ traditional teas with free samples.
International Culture Show
On Friday, Nov. 19, ESU international students will showcase their native cultures by singing, dancing, playing instruments and wearing traditional clothing.
The show begins at 7 p.m. in Albert Taylor Hall in ESU’s Plumb Hall. The ESU and Emporia communities are invited to attended, and there is no charge for the event.
