Earl W. Sauder Athletic Scholars Honored

Kent Weiser, director of intercollege athletics, introduced the 2017-18 Earl W. Sauder Athletic Scholars at a luncheon recently at the Sauder Alumni Center. Thirty-five student-athletes from all 15 intercollegiate sports offered at Emporia State were honored.



Debaters Compete in UNLV Tournament

Four Hornet debaters completed at the UNLV Classic in Las Vegas from Oct. 20 through 23. Students from twenty-nine colleges and universities across fourteen states converged for a weekend of intense competition.



Communication Expert to Deliver Annual Hayes Lecture

Homecoming Festivities Unite ESU Alumni, Emporia Community

While ESU alumni return to the Hornets’ Nest for Homecoming, the campus welcomes the Emporia community to enjoy the special events. Homecoming 2017 begins Thursday, Nov. 2 and concludes with a matinee of the musical on Sunday, Nov. 5.

New Education Grants of $2.5M Aimed at Student Success

Two new federal grants at Emporia State university will open doors for students’ future success. The university’s TRIO programs will receive $1.16 million for the McNair Scholars program and $1.3 million for Upward Bound. Both grants will be paid out over five years.


ESU Debate is Host for Pflaum Tournament

Over fall break, the ESU Debate team hosted the 62nd Annual George R.R. Pflaum tournament on campus. Over 80 competitors and colleagues from universities and colleges across Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas and Minnesota converged in Emporia for a weekend of intense competition.
