The generosity of Augusta Shepherd (BSB '44 Business Administration) and her late husband, R. Hershel Shepherd, continues with Emporia State's newest Shepherd Scholars. With annual and major gifts from Augusta, son Jim Shepherd, daughter Joyce and Craig French, daughter Judy and David Hawkins, and the family businesses, the initial $150,000 gift in 1994 has grown.

Emporia State University Theatre has postponed its spring 2020 production of Euripides classic Greek tragedy “Medea.” Originally to be presented as the final show of the 2019-2020 season, the production will now be presented in the fall of 2020.
High school students across the state have received their awards from the third annual statewide Kansas Business Hall of Fame essay contest. The contest was open to students in Grades 9–12 in Kansas. Home school entries were accepted.
Eight students from Emporia State University’s chapter of Phi Beta Lambda hosted and competed in the 2020 State Leadership Conference held at the School of Business, Cremer Hall, at Emporia State. ESU was one of eight schools that competed at the event.
While the office in William Allen White Library is closed due to the COVID-19 situation, ESU Special Collections and Archives is offering alternative ways for the community to connect with them.
An Emporia native, ESU alumnus and military veteran with more than 30 years of experience is the new Director of University Facilities at Emporia State. Bill McKernan has served as interim director since September 2019.
An art therapy graduate student recently was surprised with being named the 2020-21 Nancy Knapp Scholar.
