The Healthy Relationship & Interpersonal Violence Education Program (THRIVE)

THRIVE is a student-led peer education program

Committed to creating and promoting a safe environment

THRIVE is committed to creating and promoting an inclusive and safe environment for the ESU community through educational initiatives and outreach. THRIVE seeks to reduce interpersonal violence and empower individuals to engage in healthy relationships.

THRIVE provides primary and ongoing prevention and education programs to teach ESU students, faculty, and staff about interpersonal violence, prevention, and healthy relationships through a lens of sex positivity and inclusivity.

Sex positivity is an ideology that promotes healthy sexuality as defined by the individual(s) engaged in the sexual experience. Sexual activity is NOT a requirement to be sex positive, rather a commitment to consider sexuality in a non-judgmental environment. Education about consent and comprehensive sex-ed, as well as consideration of autonomy and personal values are all dimensions of the sex positivity mind-set.

THRIVE, in accordance with ESU's policies and procedures, prohibits all forms of discrimination harassment and violence. This includes—but is not limited to—domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, rape, and stalking.

DID YOU KNOW?

Over 30% of undergraduate students of all genders experience sexual assault. And nearly 25% of undergrads who identify as transgender, genderqueer, and non-conforming have been sexually assaulted.
