A talented cohort of 27 Emporia State University students are the latest undergraduates to benefit from ESU’s longstanding partnership with the Capitol Federal Foundation.

Applications are now open for the Jones Premier Nursing and Education Scholarship at Emporia State. The scholarship is a competitive scholarship available to high-achieving graduating high school seniors in Lyon, Osage and Coffey counties who plan to major in education or nursing at Emporia State.

A group of 13 alumni with a diverse array of professional experiences spanning higher education, business, medicine and the military has joined the Emporia State University Foundation Board of Trustees.

The Emporia State University Foundation has announced that it has launched a national executive search to find its next CEO of the ESU Foundation. As part of the ongoing commitment to supporting the mission of the university, the Foundation is now preparing for its next chapter under new leadership.

For 45 years, the late John “Doc” Baxter cared for Emporia State University’s student-athletes and taught athletic training to generations of students. On Sept. 21, ESU will honor his remarkable legacy when it holds a ribbon-cutting and open house for the John “Doc” Baxter Athletic Training and Human Performance Lab. Located on campus in the HPER Building, the renovated lab will offer students in two academic programs a state-of-the-art, hands-on learning experience featuring an array of modern equipment that will help them acquire professional skills.

The community is invited to join Emporia State students, faculty and staff for a joyous, uplifting musical experience at the Annual Music Gala Benefit Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14.

While hailing the groundbreaking of a new Nursing + Student Wellness building at Emporia State as a landmark moment in the university’s history, featured speakers continued to shine the focus on ESU students as both the future and why decisions are being made.

A new volunteer-led giving circle, created less than a year ago to support Emporia State University and its students, is already making a big impact.

For nearly three decades, Hershel and Augusta Shepherd’s magnanimity and commitment to academic excellence have allowed Emporia State University to recognize and aid more than 300 outstanding upperclassmen through the Shepherd University Scholars program.
